Can the Nutribullet Crush Ice?
In my short test, the Nutribullet Pro 900 was able to crush ice pretty easily.
There were a few cubes left over when the job was done, but plenty of usable snow or ice shavings that can be used for drinks or snow-cones.
The blender did not seem too stressed, butConsumer Reports has said in the past that this is a dangerous activity for the blender as it can cause the blades to be broken.

This was the amount of ice I put into the Nutribullet.It was about half of the container filled.Then I simply let it run for a few seconds.The ice was turned into snow besides for a few cubes.

Here’s a picture of the snow from the ice crush test.As you can see, there’s still some on the blades.
Their tests were rather rigorous, probably far exceeding what a normal user would do.

Either way, I’ve been crushing hard ice and frozen fruit in my Nutribullet for smoothies for the past two years and never experienced any issues.

Should You Do This in the Nutribullet?
Personally, I wouldn’t rely on your Nutribullet as an ice crushing machine, even though it can do the job.
The blender best functions when there’s liquid inside the container and that’s how it performs best.
Had I put some water into this mixture, odds are it would have crushed all the ice without issue and would have been much less stressful for the motor.
Which Nutribullet Should You Buy?
If you’re looking to make thick drinks, I recommend checking out my review for the best nutribullet options. I personally feel that to balance cost and performance, the 900 is best.
While the Rx has more power and function, I feel that you’re better off saving for a higher-end blender like a Vitamix or Blendtec.
