What You’ll Need
Ingredients
- 1/2 Banana (ripe)
- 1/2 Cucumber (peeled)
- 1/2 Carrot
- 1 Fuji or other sweet apple (peeled and chopped)
- Kale (1-2 large handfuls)
- 2-3 medium stalks of celery
- 1-2 cups of water.
Materials
- Your Ninja, preferably the large jar. But you can split up the recipe if you have a personal sized blender.
- A fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth.
- A bowl (if strainer) or glass (if cheesecloth)
- Rubber spatula or spoon.
Ninja Juicing Directions
1. Gather and Prep Your Raw Ingredients
Make sure all of the ingredients are peeled and prepped in the proper way, especially the apple. You don’t want to throw in the apple seeds or core because they contain cyanide so be sure to prepare those appropriately.
2. Add to Your Ninja Blender
Add all of the ingredients above to your Ninja Blender. To make things blend easily, do it in the following order…
- Add the liquid first so the blades can form a cyclone and catch the rest of the ingredients.
- Add the lighter ingredients like the kale and banana.
- Add the remainder of the heavier ingredients.
- If you want it to be on the cold side, you can add a few ice cubes at the top.

3. Blend!
Run your Ninja until everything is fully liquefied. It’s OK if you can see a little bit of pulp, but you want to make sure that all of the large chunks are fully broken up.
Now, feel free to stop here and enjoy your fresh, whole juice! Some people may find it hard to drink all of the extra pulp and that’s okay.
If so, you can proceed to the next step of straining.
4. Strain
- To remove the pulp, grab your cheese cloth or fine mesh strainer.
- Place your fine mesh strainer over a large bowl or your cheese cloth over a cup or glass that’s big enough to catch all of the liquid.
- Pour all of the blender contents in the strainer or cheese cloth.
- Use the rubber scraper or spoon to press down and extract any extra juice.

Frequently Asked Questions
How Are Juicing and Blending Different with a Ninja?
The difference between juicing with a Ninja compared to blending, comes down to a single thing: the pulp. Whether or not you strain the pulp determines whether you’ve created a juice or a blended smoothie.

What’s Better?
Most experts agree that blending is the healthier option because you get all of the fiber from your fruits and veggies. By removing the pulp and fiber, you might absorb things a little but easier, but that comes with blood sugar spikes and not giving your gut the healthy fiber that it needs.
Which Ninja Model Works Best for Juicing?
Any Ninja model should work fine for juicing, but usually the bigger the jar the better off you are.
Once you strain your juice, you’ll get rid of a lot of the volume of what you made. Therefore, the more juice you can make at once the better.
You can always throw it in the fridge for later.
