Are you unsure whether you should choose the Ninja BL456 or BL450? These are both powerful blenders, and it makes perfect sense to be torn between them.
In this post, we’ll be comparing both blenders to help you choose which one you should buy. We’ll cover what’s the same and different with the BL456 and BL450, as well as what you should consider to help you pick one.
Ninja BL456 vs BL450 Summary
If you are always experimenting with new smoothie and beverage recipes, the BL456 could be perfect for you. You can blend right into 18 or 24-ounce blending pitchers, then screw on the included to-go lids for an easy portable drink. Plus, the 900-watt motor is pretty strong, too, so you’ll be able to easily blend ice or seeds.
The BL450 is, for the most part, the same as the BL456. Truthfully, the only difference is that it’s discontinued. If you find one, it’s great for anyone who enjoys making personal-sized drinks because of its small blending pitchers.
We’d personally recommend going with the BL456. Because it hasn’t been discontinued, it’s easy to find it and its replacement parts.

The motor is the heart of any blender. However many watts the motor has will have the great influence on how easy it is for you to blend various ingredients.
In this regard, the BL456 and BL450 are completely tied. Both have 900-watt motors, which is pretty powerful. You’ll find it equally easy to blast through veggies, seeds, and ice on either one.
Some blenders come with huge, towering pitchers designed to brew multiple servings in one use. These can be excellent for families or gatherings.
But if only one person is going to use the blender to make drinks or recipes for themselves, there isn’t a need to have such a large pitcher. It would just take up space on your counter.
The BL456 and BL450 are both suitable for single-serving portions. They’re wonderful for making beverages for one person. Furthermore, because their blending pitchers are modestly sized, both these blenders are compact and won’t hog your countertops.
We think one of the most convenient things about the BL456 and BL450 is the to-go lids that come with them. As we mentioned previously, the blending pitchers function both as the top of the blender and as the cup you can drink out of.
They wouldn’t be so useful, though, if they didn’t come with lids, would they? Your mixtures would be at risk of spilling, creating a mess and making you lose your meal.
Fortunately, both include to-go cup lids. Once you’re done blending, you can just remove the blades, screw on the lid, and take your drink on the road with you.
One of the worst parts about home cooking is the cleanup. Nothing is quite as draining as having to rinse and scrub everything out.
The fact that both blenders have dishwasher-safe components is part of their attraction. No more spending long hours in front of your sink, carefully digging a sponge into the pitcher’s nooks and crannies. When you’re done drinking from the pitcher, you can just give them a quick rinse and toss them in your dishwasher.
Manual Pulse Control
Some blenders have complex settings, with panels full of speeds to try. All these settings can be wonderful if you use your blender to make pretty much everything.
However, if you’re simply using your blender to make small serving sizes for yourself, you won’t necessarily need to use a ton of settings. The BL456 and BL450 are nicely pared down, with only one manual pulse control.
To use either one, all you need to do is screw the extractor blades on the top of the pitcher. Once that’s done, put the pitcher in place by screwing the part with blades on it into the base. Push down on the pitcher to run the blender.
Press and release pressure to pulse the blades until you’ve got a creamy, smooth mix. It’s so incredibly simple, anyone can learn to use these blenders in literal seconds.
Ninja BL450 Discontinuation
There’s really only one big difference between the BL456 and the BL450: the BL450 has been discontinued. Because of that, it might be more difficult to find for sale anywhere.
Likewise, replacement parts might be harder to locate if you end up needing them. It’s certainly not impossible to locate a BL450 – we’ve found one online – but it’s not easy, either.
Which One Should You Buy?
Choosing between either the Ninja BL456 or the BL450 isn’t as hard as you might expect. Remember, they’re essentially the same blender, with the main difference being that the BL450 has been discontinued.
Basically, if you’d like one blender, you’d probably like the other. However, because of its discontinuation, the BL450 and its parts might be tricky to find.
For that reason, we would personally recommend just going with the Ninja BL456 if you like the look of either of these blenders. You’ll get all the same features as the BL450, and it will be easier for you to find it and potentially its replacement parts.
