Quick Answer: You can absolutely microwave tofu and it's probably one of the fastest and easiest ways to make it. It won't develop a crispy texture like it would by baking or pan-frying, but it's a great way to prep it to be served over rice and veggies.

- 1 block of tofu (medium, firm, or extra firm)
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon of rice vinegar
- 1 small green onion (chopped)
Slice the tofu into strips so that the entire block can fit on a microwave safe plate. Microwave the tofu without any seasoning for around 1-2 minutes depending on how powerful your microwave is. Remove as much of the water as you can by patting it dry or pressing.
Mix the soy sauce, vinegar and green onion in a separate bowl. Dip the microwaved tofu in the sauce and eat it on it's own or serve over rice and veggies.
I prefer to do it this way rather than putting the sauce in with the tofu while it cooks. It's an option, but I feel like I'd rather have all of the liquid poured on top of the tofu and rice (or dipped). You can always make 2 batches of the sauce if you feel that your tofu is coming out a little bland.

If you have a tofu press, then its a great way to enhance the texture or speed up the cooking process. By removing the water before cooking, it helps the tofu absorb more flavor and makes the texture more dense and delicious.
