Why go for a Hamilton Beach?

Hamilton Beach is an excellent brand for providing excellent performance at very affordable prices compared to the competition. When it comes specs, many of the Hamilton Beach models are directly comparable to higher-tier products like Vitamix or Blendtec. They share similar strength engines, similar ease of use, and pre-programmed settings – but they can typically be found at lower price points (prices vary).

If you’re after a model of blender that can do anything from a brand with a great record, a Hamilton Beach seems like a pretty safe bet.

Homemade beetroot hummus is well within your reach with any of these blenders.

What are the differences between the models?

There are plenty of differences between each of these models.

Some of these, like the Professional series, have higher horsepower motors than the Beach Wave Crusher series, so if you’re after a blender that’s going to make nut butters or churn up chunks of ice then you should be looking at these blenders. Both the Hamilton Beach Professional Quiet Shield Blender and the 58850 have pre-programmed settings, so if you’re planning on making daily smoothies or you’re short on time then you should look at these.

Some of these models are quieter than others; some come with tampers, others do not; some have more attractive designs than others. Whatever you find important is determined by your priorities and by what you’re after in a blender.

The Professional Quiet Shield Blender is one of Hamilton Beach’s top-tier models. It has an exceptional range of specs, better than any of the other blenders on this list, and for this reason it’s the top pick out of the Hamilton Beach range. It’s one of the top blenders on the market in general when it comes to specs and affordability.

This blender comes with a 1500W motor, which is strong enough to blend up almost anything. It has an attractive design and comes with four pre-programmed settings – smoothie, ice crush, puree, and clean – that makes it much easier for you to use it. Unlike all of the other models in this list, it comes with a removable shield that helps to reduce sound and makes this blender potentially the quietest on this list.

It also comes with a five-year limited warranty, one of the longest of the Hamilton Beach range, so you’ll have the peace of mind that you can use it for a long time.

This is the best pick for just about everything – it has excellent motor strength, excellent noise reduction, pre-programmed settings, and an attractive design. If you’re looking for a top Hamilton Beach model, this is the ideal one for you.

However, if you're actually looking for something to use in a professional setting be sure to check out our post on commercial blenders.

PROS

  • 1500W motor
  • Attractive design
  • Four pre-programmed settings
  • Removable sound-reducing shield
  • Inbuilt cleaning cycle
  • Inbuilt cooling system
  • Dishwasher-safe components
  • Five-year warranty

CONS

  • Tall container

For some reason, Hamilton Beach often names different models the same thing. There are two Hamilton Beach Professionals in this list, of which the 58850 is the first.

This is a better model than the other Hamilton Beach Professional for a couple of reasons. While both of these models have the same 1800W motor, the same attractive design, and the same thermal-protected base and rubber-mounting to prevent overheating and reduce sound, this model has a couple of other settings that set it ahead. It comes with four pre-programmed settings – smoothie, ice crush, puree, and clean – that make using this machine significantly easier than the 58800. You can push a button and the machine will do all the work for you. It also comes with an LED timer display so you can see how long is remaining in each of these pre-programmed settings.

Because of the focus on these pre-programmed settings, this model is best for anyone who’s going to use their blender for similar things every time. If you’re planning on making plenty of smoothies, or you’re crushing up ice for drinks, this is a great choice for you.

PROS

  • 1800W motor
  • Attractive design
  • Four pre-programmed settings
  • Inbuilt cleaning cycle
  • Noise-reducing technology
  • Inbuilt cooling system
  • Comes with tamper
  • Dishwasher-safe parts
  • Five-year limited warranty

CONS

  • Tall container

The second of the two Hamilton Beach Professional blenders is the 58800. It’s a stripped back version of the 58850, with reduced specs compared to the higher-tier model.

This model comes with a 1800W motor, an attractive design, and rubber-mounted base to reduce sound from motor use. It has a thermal-protected base to reduce overheating and keep the motor running strong even with heavy use, and it comes with a tamper to make it easier to blend up thicker substances (like this oreo thickshake). It has a limited five-year warranty so you can be sure that it’ll keep working for years to come.

Its only cons, which are especially apparent compared to the 58850, are its lack of pre-programmed settings. As a simpler machine, this model does not have any pre-programmed settings at all, which also impacts clean-up – though luckily the container is dishwasher-safe, so you can put it straight through your dishwasher. If you’re someone who’d like to have the ease associated with just pressing a button to let the blender do the work, particularly if you’re using your blender a lot, this might not be the model for you.

PROS

  • 1800W motor
  • Attractive design
  • Noise-reducing technology
  • Inbuilt cooling system
  • Comes with tamper
  • Dishwasher-safe parts
  • Five-year limited warranty

CONS

  • Tall container
  • No pre-programmed settings
  • No inbuilt cleaning cycle

The first of the two Beach Wave Crusher models in this list, the 58161, is very similar to the other model. Both have 700W motors, low-profile containers, and only have the most basic specs. Neither of them have any pre-programmed settings, any noise-reducing technology, or any inbuilt cooling or cleaning systems. Both have dishwasher-safe parts and limited three-year warranties.

They both have Hamilton Beach’s patented WaveAction technology, which is designed to draw food into the blades effortlessly, without you having to use a tamper. Both of their containers come with unique spouts with hinged caps for pouring.

Where this model outstrips the other Beach Wave Crusher is its added advantage: it has two sizes of containers, both of which can be attached to the motor base. Instead of having to blend a smoothie in the large 40-oz container and pour it into a takeaway cup, you can blend directly in the 20-oz portable container that this model comes with and take it on the go with you. Like the Ninja range of blenders, this makes it much easier to use.

So if you’re always on the go, consider investing in this model or check out our Nutribullet model comparison.

PROS

  • Low-profile container
  • 14 speeds
  • WaveAction technology
  • Comes with single-serve container
  • Good for on the go

CONS

  • 700W motor
  • No pre-programmed settings
  • No noise-reducing technology
  • No inbuilt cleaning cycle
  • 3-year warranty

The second Beach Wave Crusher, the 54220, is very similar to the 58161 but without the two different sizes of container that the 58161 has. It only comes with one container, a 40-oz one with a unique spout for pouring, and as a result is better for someone who isn’t going to make many single-serve blends.

It has a 700W motor, a low-profile containers, and the most basic specs, with no pre-programmed settings, no noise-reducing technology, and no inbuilt cooling or cleaning systems. Its parts are dishwasher-safe and it comes with a limited three-year warranty.

Like the other Beach Wave Crusher, the 54220 has Hamilton Beach’s patented WaveAction technology, which is designed to draw food into the blades effortlessly. As a result, this model doesn’t come with a tamper; you don’t need one. However, with its low power, its not going to be that easy to do really batches in this unit.

PROS

  • Low-profile container
  • 14 speeds
  • WaveAction technology
  • Compact

CONS

  • 700W motor
  • No pre-programmed settings
  • No noise-reducing technology
  • No inbuilt cleaning cycle
  • 3-year warranty

The best in this line-up is undoubtedly the Hamilton Beach Quiet Sheild Blender. This model is powerful, it’s attractive, it’s quiet, and it’s got four pre-programmed settings that help make using it much easier. If you want all the benefits of the Hamilton Beach range – excellent performance at an affordable price compared to competitors – then this is the ideal model you should be looking at.
